da stake casino: According to a recent report from The Sun, Fernando Llorente could be set for a move away in January. The 33-year-old currently plays his football at Premier League outfit Tottenham and has done so since leaving Swansea City back in 2017, although a lack of regular first team football in North London has called his future at the club into question.
da fazobetai: And reports suggest that Championship side Leeds United are keen on a ‘cut-price £4 million’ move for the striker, a price-tag which should be of interest to Southampton manager Mark Hughes given his side’s own struggles in the final third of the pitch.
The Breakdown
Ultimately, things have been difficult at Southampton for some time now given the shocking reign of Mauricio Pellegrino last term, with the Argentinian eventually relieved of his duties back in March to be replaced by Hughes, who then proceeded to just about keep the club in the Premier League.
Yet both managers have seriously struggled to get the best out of the squad of players, especially going forward given the Saints finished last season with just 37 goals from their 38 league games, with things looking like following a similar trend this term given they’ve netted on just eight occasions in their first 12 matches.
And while Danny Ings is perhaps the only forward at the club who can hold his head high for his four goals this term, Manolo Gabbiadini, Charlie Austin, and Shane Long have netted just once between them to highlight their alarming problem in that area of the field.
But for a paltry £4 million, Hughes would be silly not to launch a January raid on Tottenham for Llorente, as the 33-year-old has proven in the past to be up to the task at the bottom of the Premier League.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a fine career and played for some big clubs around Europe, but English football fans will know him best for helping keep Swansea in the top-flight back in the 2016/17 season, netting 15 goals in just 33 games for the South Wales outfit.
Ultimately, it was he and Gylfi Sigurdsson who kept the Swans up that season to underline the impact the striker can have at the bottom end of the table – the sort of impact Southampton are crying out for at present.
And with Llorente a slightly different striker to the ones already at St Mary’s, be it that he can dominate aerially and bring others into play through his hold-up play, it’s a deal that can only benefit the Saints in their battle against the drop – and for just £4 million, it’s an absolute no-brainer.
As such, while the 33-year-old hasn’t enjoyed a great stint at Tottenham, there is still a fine striker in the Spaniard, and with it reported to take just £4 million to get him out of Spurs, Hughes would be silly not to launch a raid for a player who might just keep Southampton in the Premier League.
