Leeds United could make a good appointment in Harry Redknapp after recent reports have emerged, according to TalkSport’s Ray Parlour.
Are Leeds appointing Harry Redknapp?
Reports have recently emerged suggesting the 75-year-old could be open to returning to the game on a short-term deal at Elland Road.
The Premier League strugglers are now over a week on from parting ways with Jesse Marsch but they do not appear to be any closer in finding his successor.
Leeds currently have a team of coaches at the helm guiding the club through their Premier League fixtures but a permanent option is yet to be hired.
And speaking on talkSPORT, the former Arsenal midfielder, Parlour, has suggested Redknapp could provide the Whites with the boost they need to avoid the drop:
“I always wanted to see Harry be the England manager one day, but he never got that opportunity. But I just think he can get the best out of players, you know, he’d have a good coaching staff around him as well.
“And he knows how because sometimes it’s all about it’s not all about coaching. He’s all about man management, and I think Harry would be top-class at that.”
Is Harry Redknapp still a manager?
The 75-year-old has now been out of work in the game of football for a number of years now with his last manager role coming back in 2017 with Birmingham City.
Obviously, Redknapp has a huge amount of experience under his belt now with 642 games under his belt in the Premier League alone.
And he has operated on the biggest stage having guided Tottenham Hotspur to a sensational quarter-final run in the Champions League in their debut appearance in the competition.
However, he has also shown what he is capable of doing at the foot end of the table when he arrived at Spurs the north London club were rock bottom of the Premier League in October.
And yet the veteran was able to completely turn around their season with five wins from his opening six games as the Spurs manager and seeing them finish in eighth spot.
However, there will likely be concerns as to whether Redknapp’s time away from the game may come as a hindrance rather than something which may have benefitted the 75-year-old.
His time with Birmingham was short-lived with just 13 games at the helm before being sacked after six straight defeats.
So although Parlour may feel as if there are a lot of positives over the potential appointment of Redknapp, it is apparent his most recent job may suggest otherwise.
