da pinup bet: According to The Sun, West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic is set to seal a £35 million deal to Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG in the coming days.
What’s the word?
Arnautovic is set to leave the London Stadium after a year and a half with the Hammers, during which time he had made 53 appearances, scored 19 goals and racked up 10 assists for the east London club.
The 29-year-old is now set for pastures new, and despite the hefty fee they’ll receive in return, the Austrian’s departure is still a major blow for West Ham.

Manuel Pellegrini will certainly have to identify and acquire a replacement for the striker, but given the limited options and inflated prices presented by the January transfer window, signing a long-term successor to Arnautovic may be a job for the summer.
As a short-term solution, Pellegrini ought to bring free agent Alvaro Negredo to the club this January.
An effective addition
Pellegrini has worked with Negredo before, having signed him whilst Manchester City boss in 2013. Together, the duo won the Premier League title that season.
Since then, the 33-year-old hitman has gone on to have spells with Valencia, Middlesbrough, Besiktas and Al-Nasr. Despite his prolific return for the club, Al-Nasr have recently released the 21-cap Spain international from his contract, making him a free agent, as reported by Sport-English.
As a free transfer, bringing Negredo back to the Premier League represents a low-risk move for West Ham, and as back-up and competition for the Irons’ remaining strikers, Negredo could prove an effective addition.
